Downtown Montessori Academy offers its students a variety of after school and summer programs.
Urban Ecology Center
Downtown Montessori Academy is proud to be one of the UEC’s Neighborhood Environmental Education Program (NEEP) schools. All DMA students age 5 and older visit the Center least 6 times per year for science and environmental education, both within the center and the surrounding Riverside Park.
Growing Power
The Adolescent Program has teamed up with Will Allen’s nationally-recognized urban farming initiative, Growing Power, in Milwaukee to learn about gardening, food sourcing, vermiculture and much more.
Brownies & Girl Scouts
Troops meet every Wednesday from 4:30PM to 6:00PM. Girls in Grades 1st through 8th are invited to join!
Piano
Lessons are $15.00 for half an hour weekly, not including music. Lessons are conducted in DMA's music room. Please contact Sr. Bernadette Grabrian for more information. (414-482-0325). All ages are welcome!
Music Lessons
Mrs. Barbara Ahlf provides guitar, piano and violin lessons to DMA students before and after school. Please contact Barb at (414) 768-8592 for more information.
Chess Club
The Chess Club meets every Thursday from 3:15 to 4:15pm. The cost is $64.00 for the 8 week session. All elementary students are invited to join!
Latin
Latin meets every Friday after school. From 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Volleyball
Open to 4th - 8th Grade students.
Before-Care is offered from 7:00 to 8:45 AM. After-Care is offered from 3:30 to 6:00 PM. For K3’s, after school care is available from 12:00 to 6:00pm.
Downtown Montessori has contracted with Smart Tuition to manage collection of all Child Care fees charged to parents. The payment schedule with Smart Tuition is set up on a 12 month basis. This means that for children enrolled in our school during the traditional academic year (September to June), billing for the 9 months of school will be parceled into 12 monthly installments, August through July. Smart Tuition charges Downtown Montessori an application fee of $50 per family. The second child in a family is entitled to a 15% discount for childcare. (Discount applies to least expensive schedule)

All scheduled payments are paid through Smart Tuition. Three different payment plans are available. If you choose the 2 payment option you will receive a 5% discount. Please inquire if you are interested.
A 15% discount will be given on one child’s fees when a sibling attends. There is a non refundable $50.00 registration fee payable to DMA for each family enrolling in the child care program.
Children picked up late or dropped off early will be charged $10.00 for every 5 minutes or portion thereof.
Children's House Summer Camp
3 - 6 Year Olds
We would like to invite your child to be a part of our Montessori Summer Program. Kim Fowler, one of our Children’s House teachers, will be teaching a five week Montessori Session for 3-6 year olds. The session runs from June 15th to July 16th. The hours are 9:00a.m to 11:30a.m., Monday thru Thursday.
Traditional Montessori methods will be applied to classroom activities such as science projects, cooking and art. There will be neighborhood walks and plenty of outdoor fun! For new students, this is a great way to get to know some of our staff and future classmates before the fall. You may sign up for individual weeks or the entire 5 week program.
Elementary Summer Camp
7 - 12 Year Olds
The Elementary Program is headed by fully certified Child Care teachers and assistants. The session runs from June 15th to August 28th. The hours are 7:30a.m to 5:30p.m., Monday thru Friday.
Elementary students attend field trips all summer long. From the Milwaukee Art Museum to nearby Humboldt Park's wading pool. Back at the center, activities range from cooking and art, to dancing and science experiments.
You may sign up for as many weeks during the summer as you'd like.
